Arthur (Skipper) Tonsmeire
Boating in the early morning hours, Arthur (Skipper) Tonsmeire,
recipient of the 1994-1995 Calder Conservation Award, ponders the
beauty of Mobile Bay in Alabama. Tonsmeire was honored with the award,
for building alliances over the past 20 years between the local business
community, public agencies and nonprofit conservation groups to protect
more than 25,000 acres of environmentally and economically important
wetlands of the Alabama Gulf Coast.
